You can search for a job you love or something you want to do for a change.
But what if you have to start looking for another job in order to keep yourself occupied?
That’s the dilemma faced by a lot of Americans, according to a new report.
According to a survey from the National Employment Law Project (NELP), half of Americans have had to start searching for a new job in the last year in order not to lose their jobs.NELPS also found that those who have experienced mental illness or been in crisis are even more likely to have to find another job.
“When employers are unable to find qualified applicants or cannot find qualified candidates with experience in the area, they have a much greater likelihood of firing or losing the job,” said Sara F. Burch, a professor of economics and director of the NELP’s Center for Labor Research.
According a report from the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of people who are unemployed increased from 1.6 million in January 2018 to 1.8 million in December 2019.
The Labor Department reported that the unemployment rate increased by 5.9 percentage points between December 2018 and December 2019, from 4.7 percent to 4.9 percent.
The unemployment rate for white non-Hispanic men was 8.1 percent, compared to 7.3 percent for African American men.
While this is a good statistic to look at, it also underscores the importance of job-hunting.
In fact, the unemployment rates of white people were higher in December 2018 than they were in January 2019, but those unemployment rates are much lower than those of African American and Hispanic people.
“I think there is a disconnect between the kinds of jobs people are searching for, and the kind of job they want,” said Fannie R. Stovall, a co-author of the report.
Stovall is the executive director of a national nonprofit called Job Corps, which provides training and job placement to people who struggle to find a new position.
She said that while job search can be tough, the NELSP survey showed that a majority of Americans are not looking for jobs.
“People need to start thinking about how they are going to manage their lives,” Stovlansaid.
“The way people are working and how they manage their relationships and their family, is not good enough.
So people need to realize that they can’t just go out and find a million-dollar job.
It’s not possible.”
According to the survey, half of the unemployed are in the labor force.
“There are a lot more people out there who are not going to find work,” said Stovsonsaid.
In an interview with CNBC on Thursday, Stovmakt said that she doesn’t know why there are more unemployed Americans than in the past.
“We don’t know exactly why,” she said.
“But we’re starting to see that it is related to what’s going on in the economy.”
The numbers from the NelsP survey indicate that in 2017, about one in five Americans were unemployed, compared with about one-third in the year before.
In 2018, it was a slightly lower figure of one in three Americans were out of work, compared, again, to January 2019.
But the jobless rate was up for the fourth consecutive year in January and February.
According to NELSPS, there were 9,903,500 Americans without a job in March, up from 8,819,100 in February.
That’s a slight increase from February, when there were 8,939,100.
Fannie Stoval told CNBC that the reason people aren’t finding jobs is because employers are less interested in hiring them.
“Employers are afraid that they’ll lose their job and that people are going out looking for new jobs,” shesaid.
“So people are afraid to go out.
That can make people less inclined to find new work.”
The best way to handle that is to hire people,” she added.”
That’s where the job market is in the country right now.
If people don’t want to be working, they’re not going anywhere.
“Fannie said that if the job economy keeps getting better, there will be more employers willing to hire Americans.”
If the economy gets better, I think it will have a positive impact on the economy,” she explained.
Stolvall added that while there’s an unemployment rate of 8.9% for African Americans, she said that the job-seeker rate is about half of that rate for other groups.”
What’s really concerning about the job situation is that people of color are having to deal with the consequences of a jobless economy,” Stolvallyaid.
The report also found racial disparities in the job search.”
